Scott Addict R15 2011 Review
Many cyclists agree that Scott have played a significant part in innovating bikes, beginning in 1989 when Scott introduced the first aero handlebar, which many commentators of cycling agree was a significant innovations in the history of cycling. Later, Scott introduced mountain bikes with unishock suspension. More importantly, Scott has lead the way in carbon constructed bikes and the Scott Addict R15 2011 can be seen as the benchmark for carbon constructions and is easily identified as the bike to select in a pro peloton. Using advanced techniques and revolutionary materials the Addict R15 is an excellent bike and one of the key features of the Addict R15 is its lightness, weighing only 790 grams in total.
Scott have used a high-tech Integrated Molding Process as well as their Naked External Tubeset to remove the aesthetic layer of carbon, by removing this layer Scott have been able to eliminate precious grams off of the entire frame creating the lightest carbon frame to date. Every aspect of this bike has been lightened for example, the Addict R15 features the new, slimmer carbon fork, weighing a mere 330 grams whilst remaining strong and improving the handling of the bike, which takes corners beautifully. While the seatpost and handlebar are made from Ritchey’s carbon to ensure the bike remains lightweight.
The super light bike is capable of soaring up climbs, whilst descending at impressive speeds whilst the rigidity of the frame guarantees energy transfer between rider and bike for effective and quick sprinting. The reassuring SPAM FORCE New 2010 front and rear brakes create a successful and alert braking system. Additionally, the bike features a short head tube, long top tube and slack seat angle, these inspired features possess a similar geometry found on race bikes creating a fast and effective bike. Testers agree that this sleek bike’s combination of impressive handling, lightness and strength means that the Addict R15 rides magnificently.
