Trek Madone 5.9 2012 Review
It isn’t an understatement to describe Trek as one of the most renowned and passionate bicycle companies to date. Very few cyclists would disagree with this statement, which is why they are one of the most well known American bicycle manufacturers providing cycling enthusiasts around the world with high quality, technologically advanced bikes that are affordable.
Trek have been known for their Madone series‘ for generations and each year they improve and create new models for their various series’. Trek 2012 ranges sees the return of the Madone 5.9 model, although the 2011 model of this second-tier series was fantastic Trek have announced that their already perfect Madone 5.9 has had some further improvements. The stunning navy and white frame has been constructed using Trek’s 500 series OCLV carbon, creating a frame that is durable, strong, nimble and rigid, making the Madone 5.9 an indisputable racing machine. The carbon BB90 further increases the rigidity and strength of the frame, ensuring that every piece of effort made by the cyclists in transformed into speed. The Ride Tuned seatmast and H2 fit design of the Madone 5.9 frame makes certain that this model retains the handling geometry and racing feel of Trek’s flagship Madone series 6 models, but offers a more relaxed and comfortable riding position.
Bontrager features enhance the racing feel of the Madone 5.9, in particular the Bontrager Race X Lite carbon fork with E2 carbon tapered steerer narrows to 1-1/8″. This keeps the fork extremely rigid and helps to distribute forces more evenly creating a bike that corners and handles beautifully at every speed. Trek have fitted first class components to the Madone 5.9 by Shimano, in particular Shimano’s Ultegra Di2 electronic shifting system, which has been proven to provide riders with fast, smooth and accurate shifting not available on mechanical systems. While unique features, such as Di2 optimisation and integrated cable management, ensures a clean, aerodynamic frame. Trek’s Madone 5.9 is an outright racing machine that will definitely be able to compete against the more expensive flagship models in the hands of the right rider.
